James Avery Coker, age 72, of Cleveland, GA passed away on April 1, 2013. He was born on October 13, 1940 to the late William and Blanche Coker. He was preceded in death by his brother Doug Coker.

He is survived by his spouse: Hazel Coker; siblings: Margaret (Earl) Boone and Wayne Coker; his children: Sheila Rosencrantz, Jamie (Jim) Wright, Billy (Kelle) Ray and Deana (Brad) Mosher and his beloved grandchildren: Laura, Caitlin, Julie, Emily, Chandler, Sutton, Davis and Avery plus several nieces and nephews.

He served his country as a United States Marine from November 21, 1957 to November 20, 1961.

He served as General Chairman of the local International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway in 2002.

Memorial Services will be held at the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 11:00am with Pastor Tim Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at Georgia National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Henry County Council on Aging, Meals on Wheels, Attn: Ann Marie Quincey, 1050 Florence McGarity Blvd, McDonough, GA 30252.
