On March 3, 2013, Deidra Louise Blackmon, DVM was fatally shot after a man apparently became angered when one of her friends vomited near his car.

She was the designated driver for her best friend's bachelorette party. On the way home, she stopped at a convenience store and went inside. Her friend became sick outside of the car; although apologies were made, and both cars left, the couple followed, pulled along side the car and shot Dr. Blackmon in the head.

A 2010 graduate of Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Science, Diedra was described by co-workers as "brilliantly talented" and beloved.

Many will miss her beautiful smile and the love she gave to those who knew her.

She is survived by her parents, Chris and Debbie Blackmon of Fort Worth, her brother Justin and her three cats, three dogs and a horse.
