Landon Edward Witt, 80 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.
He was born on Monday, September 19, 1932 in Bedford County, a son of the late Garland Edward Witt and Laura Wells Laughlin Witt.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Garland A. Witt, Odell D. Witt, Wendall R Witt and Sherman L. Witt and sisters, Nancy L. Lacy and Nina P. Arthur.
He was a retired employee of General Electric, was a U. S. Air Force Veteran having served in Korea, a member of the V. F. W. Post # 2157 and the Nicopolis United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his wife, Harlene Brinegar Witt; a step-daughter, Chris Strautnieks & husband, Erik of Chesapeake; step-son, Dean Riley of Cumberland, MD; three step-grandchildren, Erika Strautnieks of Hampton, Stefan Strautnieks & wife, Courtney of Sterling, and Blake Riley of Cumberland, MD; a brother, Herman G. Witt & wife Shirley, of Bedford; three sisters, Patricia W. Cunningham & husband, Ray, Laura W. Bradley all of Lynchburg, Charlotte W. Sexton & husband, Randy of Goode.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:00 am at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Phillip Kelley officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Nicopolis United Methodist Church.
Friends may call after noon on Tuesday and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
