Born May 19, 1936, in Henry County, Victor Richard was the son of Victor and Mary Ellen (Manning) Calhoun Sr. On November 30, 1955, he married Marilyn Mueller in Tupelo, MS.
He received his education from the Liberty Country School and Pleasant Lawn School. Victor was a lifelong farmer and was employed with CB&Q Railroad as a fireman and assistant engineer for ten years. Victor owned and operated E & C Roofing for 35 years. He retired in 1998.
Mr. Calhoun was a hunting and fishing enthusiast. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed woodcarving, building furniture, wrapping fishing poles, gun-smithing, leather crafting, building birdhouses and other crafts.
Along with his wife Marilyn, he is survived by three sons, David (fiancé Cookie Spinner), Dale (Becky) Calhoun, and Joe Calhoun and one daughter, Mary (Alan) Raymer all of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Also surviving is one sister Martha (Don) Whaley of Mt. Pleasant, IA; eleven grandchildren, Ben, Chad, Christie, Corey, Ashley, Tiffany, Kelsey, Daniel, Matt, Jill and Chris; three great-grandchildren, Alex, John and Luke; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edmond "Bill" Calhoun.
