Born ca. 1829, he was the son of Robert and Clarissa O'Barr.
He married Sarah M. Watson. Their known children were: Cornelia V., Roberta, Cunningham P., Louis Turner, Robert Naul, Thomas B., Henry, Sarah Eveline, Sue Anne and Hattie O'Barr.
(Thomas's father, Robert O'Barr, was twice married. His first wife was Clarissa Unknown. Their known children were: Thomas Lawton, Samuel Morton, Robert H., Mary C., Theresa E., Eliza Jane and Richard P. O'Barr. Robert's second wife was Mary L. Stroud. They had three known daughters, Carrie M., Lizzie and Bessie O'Barr.)

Private Company E, 57th Alabama infantry. Had dark hair and dark complexion; hazel eyes. He was 5' 11" tall.
Appeared on prisoners of war roll, captured at Kingston, Tn on 24 Nov 1863; Dept. of cumberland, Nashville, Tn., roll 150 sheet 13. He was forwarded to Louisville, Ky 9 Dec 1863 and then to Rock Island, Il for exchange on 11 Dec 1863, from where he was discharged. He swore allegiance to the U.S. on 11 May 1865 at Nashville, Tn.
