James Heath was the son of David Heath and Anne Clinton Porter. He married Elizabeth Jane Hoagland/Hogeland on Feb. 28, 1850 in Piatt Co., Ill. They had 8 children Frances "Fanny" Helen, Almer Porter, Mary Ada, John Franklin, Anna Agusta, Alberta Kathryn, and two infants one died at birth in 1853 and one died a month after birth in 1863.

The death of Mrs. Jane Heath occurred at her home in Monticello Saturday evening, March 10, 1917 at 7 o'clock.
She had been ill with an attack of pneumonia for about a week. At her advanced age she had not, the strength to throw off the disease and passed peacefully away in the early evening hours. Mrs. Heath was a pioneer of the county, having come here by wagon at three years of age when her parents (mother and stepfather Samuel Cline) moved from Ohio. It is said when they arrived the log house in which they expected to reide was not finished and they stopped with the Madden family near Madden Run until it was completed.
Elizabeth Jane Hoagland was born in Pickaway County, Ohio Nov. 27th 1833. She grew to young womanhood in Piatt County and on Feb. 28, 1850 was married to James C. Heath a young farmer of the neighborhood in which she lived.
Eight children came to bless this union two of whom were called home in early life and one, Mrs John Andrew a few years ago. Those surviving are: Almer Heath, Mrs Ada Mitchell, and John Heath, all of White Heath and Misses Anna and Catherine Heath of Moticello. The husband died in 1872.
Mrs. Heath had a sweet and kindly disposition, and was beloved by all who knew her. She was happy in the tender care of her two daughters at home, as well as in the frequent visits of her other children who loved to spend what time they could in her home. She will be much missed at the fireside.
The funeral services were held in the family residence Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev WG Lloyd of the Methodist church officiating. The body was carried to its resting place in the Moticello Cemetery by the grandsons of the deceased.
He was my 2x g. grandfather.
