Deborah Kay Gemes, 59, of Waterloo, Iowa, formerly of Knob Noster, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013, in Ashland.

Deborah was born Aug. 25, 1953, in Warrensburg, daughter of Cletus E. and Mary L. (Hewitt) Tucker.

She graduated from Knob Noster High School.

She was united in marriage to Jerry Clyde Gemes on June 12, 1971, in Knob Noster.

The couple owned and operated A-1 Concrete, Plumbing & Excavating for several years.

In 2009, they moved to Scottsbluff, Neb. They moved to Waterloo in 2011. Deborah was an avid reader. She especially treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her four children, Chad Richard Gemes and Cheryl Gemes of Centerview, Jason Cole Gemes of Lee's Summit, Autumn Kay Gemes of Ashland and Michelle Lynn Gemes of Warrensburg; two sisters, Earlene Judd and husband, Gary, of Knob Noster, and Linda Crawford and husband, Bill, of Osage Beach; brother, Doug Tucker of Knob Noster; mother-in-law, Jean Everts of Knob Noster; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, on Oct. 17, 2012, and both parents.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg, with the Rev. Charles Brant officiating.

Interment will follow in New Church Cemetery south of Knob Noster.

Pallbearers will be Clint Judd, Kyle Judd, Gary Judd, Bill Crawford, Randy Rittman and A. J. Gemes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Cunningham, Ronnie Corbett, Steve Elwell and Danny Everts.
