Anna Bernadina Selhorst was born on June 3, 1869 to Catharina Elisabeth Selhorst and Johann Bernard Roelfer in Germany, both her parents were also born in Germany. She was baptized on June 5, 1869 in Liebfrauen-Uberwasser Katholisch, Munster Stadt, Westfalen, Prussia.

Anna, now known as Dina Rolver, departed Hamburg on April 18, 1888 on the ship Polaria. Her destination was New York. Within a few years, her mother, brother and sister would join her in the United States.

She married Henry James Hammett in 1889.
The New York State Census, June 1, 1905, has the family living at 72 North Street in Leroy, New York. At the time, Dina and Henry were the parents of John Bernard, George W, Elizabeth Anne, and Thomas James.
