Catherine E. Lilligh was born in February 1869 in Illinois to James Polk Lilligh and Hannah (Cornish) Lilligh.
Her three siblings from her parent's union include; Addion C. Lilligh, Matilda Lilligh and Sarah Lilligh.
After the death of her mother in 1872, Catherine's father married Nancy Eleanor Buchanan and from his union, Catherine had seven half-siblings including; Minnie Priscilla (Lilligh) Harris, Grace A. (Lilligh) Wells, Maud Lilligh, Simon Lilligh, Flora Lilligh, Elma (Lilligh) Sensenbaugh and Nannie Mabel Lilligh.
Catherine married George Stauffer on July 10, 1887 in Bond county, Illinois.
They became the parents to ten children including; Elmer James Stauffer, Martin Edward Stauffer, Henry Arthur Stauffer, Jetta Stauffer, Irma Maude (Stauffer) Bingham, Albert W. Stauffer, Blanche Stauffer, Ruby N. Stauffer, Sadie P. (Stauffer) DeMoulin and Cora Stauffer.
In 1910, Catherine was an inmate in the Anna State Hospital in Anna, Union county, Illinois.
Catherine passed away April 30, 1916 in Anna, Union county, Illinois and was laid to rest in the Dunkard Cemetery in Mulberry Grove, Bond county, Illinois.
