Eldest son of Edmund Abney and Katherine Ludham, grandson of George Abney and Ellen Wolseley, William Ludham.

Husband of Mary Brokesby, daughter of George and Elizabeth Goodwin. They were married in 1611 and had six sons and seven daughters:

Robert Hudson, citizen & haberdasher of London, leased to Robert Miller of Leicester, mercer, and Paul Abney of Leicester, gentleman, for 21 years and £148 per
acre of land in Netherhighfield in the parish of Melton Mowbray, being part of the grounds called Highfields, and a parcel of called Hay Medowe, parish of Mowbray.
