John Henry Moore was born March 12, 1852 in Kentucky, son of Cornelius Moore (1812- ) and Justine Evans (1816- ).

On February 13, 1872 in Jackson County, Kentucky, John Henry married Frances 'Fannie' Cope, who was born August 31, 1853 in Hawkins County, Tennessee, daughter of Micajah 'Cager' Cope (1812- ) and Mary Brewer (1818- ).

John Henry and Frances had 11 known children: Mary Jane Moore born 1872; Eli Moore born 1874; James Monroe Moore born 1875; Nancy L. Moore born 1877; Jetti Moore born 1878; Frank B. Moore born 1880; Stephen Findley Moore born 1882; Sarah Lillie Moore born 1884; John W. Moore born 1886; Henry Riccer Moore born 1887; and Maggie May Moore born 1889.

John Henry died January 14, 1939 in Denison, Texas (Grayson County) and was buried there in the Oakwood Cemetery. Frances died December 20, 1944 in Denison and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery beside her husband.
