Neither Alice "Allie" Haughwout nor George W., Jr. ever married. George was a fine photographer who had a M.G. convertible, complete with "running boards!"

Mary Drake, wife of Fred Drake was no relation but friend. Fred may be also buried here, no one was left in their
family to have it inscribed with the dates.
Full dates added other than that from the tombstone have been included with thanks to B.E.F. Stienstra's mother, Eileen MILLER FEIST, referring to her address/date book
as well as her (late) mother Elsie BLAUM MILLER's address/date book.

Barbara,

I recently found the obituary you left to Alice and George Haughwout on the
Findagrave website. We purchased the Haughwout house
after the death of Alice in 1990 and "inherited" many of her
belongings. We purchased a good deal of her furniture which remained in the
house. The chests and cabinets were not cleaned out so we have many of her
possessions. We found a few slides which I have recently
scanned and thought you might like to see them. Her neighbor Irene told us
stories of the family and with her furniture and possessions
we feel like we know her.

The first one is the 1953 MG you mentioned on the website with Alice.
The second is the MG in the back of our house before the garage and car were
crushed by a neighbor's tree.
The third is Alice on the beach.

These slides were taken in 1954 by George Haughwout. I have more photos if
you'd like to see them.

Earl Middleton

I just shared this with my 89 year old mother, and she was equally pleased and surprised to receive your message, Earl! Would you mind if I included your message at FINDAGRAVE along with the photos? It would be an excellent "follow-up" and to enshrine the photos of the beloved MG! My late father wanted to buy that car but my mother "nixed" it. Never in a million years would we ever have thought we would see that MG again, and I thank you for that glimpse!
Barbara
Barbara,
I'm so glad you liked the photos. I have a few more of the MG that George took in the back of the house. I will send them later. It is fine with me if you include the photos on the web site.
Earl

many thanks to Earl for the photos!
