Chris Alan Schrader, 62, of Huntsville, passed away early Thursday morning, March 14, 2013, at his home.

Born in Kenton on July 24, 1950, he was a son of Allie and Betty Hempy Schrader, who survive in Belle Center.

On Aug. 27, 1999, he married the former Julie Stevenson at the Lewistown United Methodist Church, and she survives, along with five children, Nicole (Jamie) Schwieterman of Maumee, Ryan (Erin) Schrader and Whitney Schrader, both of Columbus, Molly (Wes) Hall of Belle Center and Heath Kindle of Huntsville; five grandchildren, Sydney and Reed Schwieterman and Maddux, Cooper and Miller Hall; a sister, Dana (Doug) Henry of East Liberty; many nieces and nephews; and former spouse, Cheryl Schrader of Huntsville.

A 1968 graduate of Belle Center High School, Chris earned his bachelor's degree in 1972 from Bowling Green State University and his law degree in 1976 at Ohio Northern University, where he was top of his class. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard, serving for six years, including a year of active duty before attending ONU.

He practiced law with William E. Shirk at the law office of Shirk & Schrader in Lakeview for more than 35 years. He was a member of the Indian Lake Community Church in Russells Point and the Logan County and Ohio State Bar Associations. He served his community for many years as solicitor for the villages of Lakeview and Belle Center.

The Revs. John B. Ellington Jr., Karen Blackburn and Jim Ellington conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Indian Lake Community Church. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be given in his name to the Indian Lake Community Church Memorial Fund.
