Raymond Beights passed away on March 12, 2013 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born July 19, 1917 in Kendallville, Indiana to Leroy & Mary Engelbrecht Beights. Raymond graduated from Kendallville High School. After high school, he attended Indiana University, graduating in 1941 with a Master's Degree in Education. After earning his degree, Raymond began his teaching degree in Porter County.


In 1945, he served in the US military during WWII as a B-24 Bomber Pilot, flying over 12 missions in the European theatre. He received a Purple Heart for his service during the war.


After coming home from serving in WWII, Raymond came back to Fort Wayne, Indiana to continue his teaching career at Franklin Elementary. He eventually changed paths and became the Choral Music Director at North Side High School until 1955. During this time Raymond also served as director for multiple choruses in Fort Wayne, including Parkview Nurses Chorus and Indiana Technical College Men's Chorus.


Raymond had his own telivision program on WKJG titled Leisure Time for several years, on which he played the organ. He was also an organist for the Zion Lutheran Church and the Embassy Page Organ.


After leaving North Side High School as the Choral Music Director in 1955, Raymond entered the pre-med educational path at Indiana University, receiving his medical degree in 1961. He served his residency at Ball Memorial Hospital. After his residency he opened a family practice in Fort Wayne in 1961, which stayed in operation for a decade. In 1971, Raymond and other medical doctors started Parkview Emergency Physician's Group, which he was a part of until his retirement in 1984. He served as president of Parkview Medical Staff from 1971 to 1972. From 1972 to 1992, Raymond served as Deputy Coroner. After serving as Deputy Coroner, he was elected as Allen County Coroner from 1992 to 1996. After his term in office, he returned to his previous position of Deputy Coroner from 1996 until his retirement in 1999. Raymond practiced at Redi-Med from 1983 to 1990, in addition to serving as a Medical Doctor for North American Van Lines at one time.


Raymond is survived by two sons, four daughters, fourteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. (Names omitted per FG policies).


Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne, son David, and son in law Gene Burns.
