OBITUARY:

KAYSVILLE--Elmo Ernest Jensen passed away March 6, 1999 in Layton, Utah.
He was born June 5, 1920 in Sigurd, Utah and was the youngest son of Rasmus N. and Amelia Marie Nielsen Jensen. He attended elementary school in Sigurd and graduated from Richfield High School. On November 1, 1939 he married Betty Marcene Arrowsmith in Ogden, Utah, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. In 1941 they moved to Ogden but his heart was tied to the Sevier County area which he always referred to as home. He served in the South Pacific with the Third Fleet of the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He also worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad and retired as a locomotive engineer in 1981 after 40 years of service. More recently he worked as a volunteer in the railroad museum in Ogden until he became ill.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers as a young man and later pursued these activities with his wife and children. The cabin he built in Evergreen Park above South Fork was a gathering place in recent years for neighbors, friends and loved ones.
After his health began to deteriorate in the summer of 1997, he moved from Farr West to Kaysville to be closer to his family in Davis County.
Elmo was a member of the LDS Church and a High Priest. His church service included Scouting when he lived in Roy, Utah, and he also served as a Home Teacher and as a councilor in the Sunday School Presidency.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, of Kaysville; three sons and three daughters, Thomas Lynn Jensen (Joyce) of Milton, Florida; Richard Elmo Jensen (Carolyn) of Titusville, Florida; W.R. "Bill" Jensen (Korilyn) of Clearfield; Brenda Edvalson (Ron) of Kaysville; MaryAnn Davis (Paul) of Logan; and Pam Fielding (Kevin) of West Point. There are also 25 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 1999. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, Ogden, Utah.
