SOUTH BEND - Alice M. Garner, 86, passed away at 10:46 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Alice was born on January 6, 1927 in South Bend to the late John C. and Matilda M. (Jilg) Coldeberg. She has been a lifelong resident of Lakeville, South Bend and Milford. Alice worked as a CNA for 25 years at Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. She was also a cook at Garner's Truck Stop on U.S. 6 for 25 years and worked many years at Laville Barber Supply. Alice was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bremen and was a former member of TOPS.

Alice is survived by her three children, Dennis (Nancy) Potoczky of Bristol, IN, Steven (Michelle) Potoczky of Plymouth, and Margaret Richardson of Dowagiac, MI; nine grandchildren, Lori (Patrick) Donath, Aaron (Anne) Potocky, Jennifer (Ryan) Maure, Joseph Potoczky, Brandon (Lindsay) Garland, Brianna Garland, Kori Potoczky, Drew Lennox, and Nina Richardson; six great-grandchildren, Ethan, Austin, Elizabeth, Owen, Braxton, and Kyla; one brother, John D. (Fern) Coldeberg of Osceola; and three sisters, Susan Kovatch of Osceola, Marge (Wally) Peregrine of Plymouth, and Christa Coldeberg of Tampa, FL.

Alice was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Potoczky and Jack Garner; son, Joseph J. Potoczky; granddaughter, Amanda J. Potoczky; brother, Donald R. Coldeberg; and three sisters, Joan Grimm, Barbara Coldeberg, and Mary Lou Willis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 605 S. Center Street, Bremen, IN. Rev. Neil Wonnacott, pastor, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, February 25th, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, where friends and family will share memories at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also visit with the family one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church. Contributions in memory of Alice M. Garner may be donated to River Bend Cancer Services, 919 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46617.
