Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013 at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jules Catholic Church for Joseph W. Thibodeaux, 92, who died on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Maison de Lafayette Nursing Home in Lafayette.

Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum in Lafayette.

Reverend Jared Suire, Pastor of, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, Louisiana will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrow will be the guitarists and soloists, will sing "You Are Mine", "This Alone", "I Am The Bread of Life", and "Amazing Grace" for the services.

He is survived by a son, Wayne Thibodeaux and wife, Bettie, of Scott; two daughters, Brenda Hebert and husband, Gabby, of St. Cloud, FL, and Mollie Vincent Charpentier and husband, Darnell, of Abbeville; his dear friend, Marie Suire; three sisters, Edith Gutierrez of Crowley, Alice Martin of Jennings, and Ann Mathiew of Crowley; seven grandchildren, Ricky Thibodeaux, Sean Thibodeaux, Cherie Ellyson, Duane Hebert, Wendy Manning, Sister Nina Vincent, OLS, and Cy Vincent; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Theresa Broussard Thibodeaux; five sisters, Inez Hanks, Ednez Roché, Edna Thibodeaux, Edia Abshire, Noemie Lantier; three brothers, François (Frank), Aimie (Dago), and Elmo Thibodeaux.

Mr. Thibodeaux was born on March 8, 1921 in Kaplan, Louisiana. A resident of Lafayette for 62 years, he was the son of the late John Evariste Thibodeaux and the former Edita Simon. He was a veteran of military service, having served his country in the United States Navy during WWII from 1942 to 1945, when he was honorably discharged. He was awarded several medals and citations for exceptional services, among which were the Navy Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and the China Service Medal. He was a member of the VFW Post 9822 and a member of St. Jules Catholic Church.

Mr. Thibodeaux was a mechanic for most of his life, having been employed for 4M Rental and Repair for many years. He was an avid fisherman and accordion player, and he enjoyed Cajun dancing till the very end of his life. He was a loving father and beloved grandfather who will be greatly missed. Now he is dancing in heaven!

Pallbearers will be Wayne Thibodeaux, Gabby Hebert, Darnell Charpentier, Ricky Thibodeaux, Duane Hebert, and Cy Vincent.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SCOTT location on Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at AMG Specialty Hospital for their compassionate care of Mr. Thibodeaux while he was there.
