Verna L. Cota, 94, was born in Brookings, South Dakota on April 16, 1918, The daughter of William Walter Ward and Minnie Louise (Coleman) Ward. She died at her home in Rosemead, California on February 4, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was survived by her husband, Rudy J. Cota Sr. of Montebello, her daughter, Jean L. Ward of Rosemead, her step son, Rudy J. Cota Jr. (Melissa Cota) of New Mexico and her step daughter, Suzanne Cota of Rancho Cucamonga.
Verna worked as a Personel Director with the Veteran's Administration for 35 years. She loved cooking and baking; making all of her own clothes, knitting and crocheting. She was always impeccably dressed. Verna "mothered" everyone and also the animals she rescued. She especially loved her little dogs. She was also an outstanding bowler.
