Funeral services were Wednesday, March 6th at Mowen Funeral Home - William A. Scarlett Memorial Chapel with Rev. Wayne Jacobs officiating.
Madge was the daughter of Walter and Eunice (Hyde) Jacobs. She married the father of her children, Glenn Long in Georgia in 1957. They later divorced but remained friends until his death August 20, 2006.
Madge was a welder at Tri-Mer Corp in Owosso; working for 30 plus years until her health forced her to stay home. She loved garage sales, searching for that special bargain and going to the casino, where Lady Luck was her pretty good friend. She loved to travel near and far; she was very interested in history and loved going to museums.
Born in the south, she loved to tour the plantations and feel that rich southern history and culture. Madge was also an avid reader. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother -her home was always the place to gather; to seek refuge or to simply stop by for a smile and a hug.
Those cherishing her memory include: children: Dwayne (Jill) Long of Battle Creek, Cheryl (Guy) Whitman of Owosso, and twins, Kelly (Debbie) Long of Henderson and Kerry Long of Mt. Pleasant; 9 grandchildren, Dwayne (Beth) Long Jr., Brandon Whitman, Tiffany (John) Homola, April (Jake) Wilkins, Adam (Lacey) Long, Nathan Long, Blake (Misty) Whitman, Jacob Long and Margaret Long; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wayne (Marilyn) Jacobs, Winfred (Joyce) Jacobs, John (Sharon) Jacobs and Ginny (Lee) Reynolds; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Earl Jacobs and grandson, Brett Whitman.
