The Lord has called home Floyd E. "Pete" Bryant. Although we will miss his infectious grin and good humor, his loving support of his family, his bravery and courage through so many difficult times, we rejoice in the knowledge that he is now with his Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ and that he is no longer constrained by the infirmities that have bound him these past few years. When Pete was 24 years old, he made the most important decision of his life, which was to trust Jesus as his Lord and Savior. The Lord has been his strength all through the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillie Bryant; and four brothers, John "Dub" Jr., Leahmon, Winston and Jimmy Douglas Bryant.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Frances Palm Bryant; two sons, Bob "Booger" Bryant and wife, Colette, and Bill Bryant and wife, Gail; grandchildren, Barbie Cooke and husband, D.C., Bobbi, Caleb, Daniel, Merissa, Matthew, Erica and Emma Bryant, Julie Fenton, Misty Brown and Chelsea Wickersham; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Lee and husband, Charlie, of Granbury; and his brother-in-law, Ed Palm and wife, Rita, of Fort Worth; nieces and nephews; cousins; and many precious friends. He always delighted in visiting with his family and his extended family.
Pete was born and raised in Abilene. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After residing 37 years in Ector County, he and his wife moved to Kerrville to be near both sons and their families. He loved the auction business and took early retirement from Texaco Inc., so he could devote full-time to auctioneering. He was president of the Texas Auctioneers Association in 1990-1991. In 1993, he was inducted into the Texas Auctioneers Hall of Fame. He was an ordained deacon and a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Jubilee Sunday School Class, where he had so many loving and caring friends who were so faithful to pray for him during his many trying and difficult times. He always had a smile and a hug for his church family.
Graveside rites will be at 11 a.m. today at Garden of Memories. A worship and praise service will be at 2 p.m. today at Trinity Baptist Church to celebrate his "going home" with the Rev. Len Hartley and the Dr. John Petty officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prime Times Ministry of Trinity Baptist Church, 800 Jackson Road, Kerrville, TX, 78028, or Vista Care Hospice, 1001 Water St., Suite B 100, Kerrville, TX, 78028.
