Shirley Janette Walker Stamey, 73, of Morganton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, while at Taylor Family Care, Valdese.
Born Aug. 9, 1937, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Roy Walker and Pearl Triplett Walker.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Stamey is survived by two sons; a brother; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stamey was preceded in death by her husband, Arrie Anderson Stamey; a son, Ted Stamey; three sisters, Willadean Reep, Betty Grindstaff and Edith Walker; and a brother, Kenneth Walker.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 2011 in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton.
Interment followed at Burke Memorial Park, Morganton.
