Anna Kate Draper, 85, of Smithsburg, Md., passed away peacefully at her home Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.

Born July 11, 1927, in Bolivar, Md., she was the daughter of the late Roy Glenn and Dessie Deswell (Koogle) Leatherman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Franklin Draper, on May 2, 2000. They were married April 4, 1947.

She was a graduate of Middletown High School, Class of 1944.

She was a former dairy farmer and a homemaker.

She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Wolfsville, Md., where she was a teacher of the nursery class for more than 40 years.

She is survived by
one daughter,
Fonda A. Gormer and husband, Jonathan, of Myersville, Md.;
one son,
Jerry L. Draper and wife, Cindy, of Wolfsville;
one granddaughter,
Jennifer Gormer and husband, Clay Waite;
one grandson,
Joshua Gormer and wife, Tracey;
great-grandchildren,
Cameron and Darcy Gormer and
Emma and Patrick Waite;
sister, Glenna V. Moser and husband, Gary; and
brother, F. Calvin Leatherman and companion, Nancy Smith.

A memorial service will be Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, Wolfsville, with Pastor Robert E. Snyder officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Mount Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Foxville, Md.

Memorial donations may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 12477 Wolfsville Road, Myersville, MD 21773.
