Born in Swedesboro, NJ, he had been a resident of Mullica Hill all of his life.
Mr. Datz served in the U. S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 and was a graduate of Glassboro High School and Glassboro State College(now Rowan University). Baseball and football were his choice of sports and he was honored in the Glassboro High School, Glassboro State College, and Gloucester County Sports Halls of Fame.
Mr. Datz was Principal for 26 years at Woodbury Heights Elementary School, retiring in 1988. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Husband of the late Margaret A.(nee Downey), he is survived by 3 sons, David and his wife Susan, Jeffrey and his wife Stacy, Richard and his wife Kimberly; 4 grandchildren, Sandy, David, Carley, Matthew Datz; and one sister, Teresa Holtzhouser. Brother of the late Jack Austin and Bob Datz.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family 6:30-9 p. m. Wednesday January 23rd and 10-10:45 Thursday, January 24th at Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit At Holy Name of Jesus Church Parish, 17 Earlington Ave., Mullica Hill, NJ 08062.
