Sam Collins Rites Planned

Services for Sam Earl Collins, 69, Tyler, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Hopewell No. 1 Baptist Church with the Rev. V.M. Robertson officiating.

Masonic graveside rites by Young Hill Lodge N. 467 will be in Hopewell Community Cemetery with Worshipful Master Marcellaus Beavers officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brooks-Sterling Funeral Home, Tyler.

Mr. Collins died Tuesday in a Tyler hospital after a brief illness.

He was born May 5, 1914, in Tyler, and lived here all of his life. He was a member of Hopewell No. 1 Baptist Church, the male chorus at the church and was a deacon. He was the treasurer of the building fund, treasurer of Hopewell Community Cemetery. He was a member of Young Hill Masonic Lodge No. 467 and attended Young Hill School.

Survivors included his wife, Mrs. Geneva Collins, Tyler; a sister, Mrs. Jewel Whitmill, Whitehouse; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Guthrie, Tyler.

Pallbearers are nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Starks, Willie Campbell, Lenard Starks and deacos of Hopewell Baptist Church.
