Funeral Services were held Oct. 4, 1972 at 2:00 P.M. in Marsh Funeral Chapel for Merle W. Bowen, age 82, of 3434 main St. Marlette. Mr. Bowen passed away on Sept. 30, 1972 in Lapeer County General Hospital after an extended illness. He was born on February 6, 1890 in Ludingston, Michigan the son of the late Charles and Mahala Bowen. His boyhood days were spent in the Ludington area and he attended schools there. He was an electrician and a navy veteran of World War I. On Sept. 7, 1912, he married Lulu Bell Purple in Ludington. The couple resided in Ludington until 1933 when they came to Marlette.
