James K. "Jim" Aeschliman
January 13, 1936 – February 18, 2013

Walla Walla resident, James K. "Jim" Aeschliman, 77, passed away February 18, 2013, at Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital in Post Falls, Idaho.

Jim was born January 13, 1936, in Portland, Oregon, to Foster T. and Sylvia Marie Bensel Aeschliman. He received his GED and an Associate Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Oxnard College in Southern California. In 1976, he and Nancy Schnebly married in Oxnard. He served eleven years in active duty in the US Navy and nineteen years in the Naval Reserve after he retired from active duty. He worked in food service and taught food service classes, retiring in 1996.

Following retirement he and his wife traveled all over the United States in their motor home, but he loved Washington the best. Jim loved food, sports and politics. Jim loved it when any of his kids came home to visit; he would always go out to do yard work and wait for their car to drive up. His grandkids were also of great enjoyment to him. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Walla Walla and was also a long-time member of the Nazarene Church.

Jim is survived by his wife at home; four daughters: Susan Hall, Mary (Darrell) Hrabik, Ann (Scotty) Riemer, and Carol Aeschliman; his son, Eric Aeschliman; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Larry and Nancy Owen and Don and Gael Owen; three grandchildren: Jonathan Hall, Ryan Hall and Joshua Aeschliman. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jerry Owen.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2013 and 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 22 at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, Washington. A private graveside service will be at Mountain View Cemetery. The memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church, 1st and Birch Streets, Walla Walla. Pastor Albert Gillin will officiate. Memorial contributions may be designated to the Music Fund of the First Presbyterian Church through the funeral home.
