A funeral for Eddie Robert Gudgel will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Murray Hills Christian Church, Beaverton. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memorial Park.

Mr. Gudgel died of congestive heart failure Friday in a Portland hospital. He was 68.

Mr. Gudgel was born March 20, 1923, in Linnton. He graduated from Hood River High School in 1942 and attended the University of Oregon. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He worked as a baker for Davidson's Bakery in Portland for nine years. He subsequently worked as a salesman for Crown Zellerbach from 1959 until his retirement in 1986.

Mr. Gudgel was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 142. He had been a Portland-area resident for 43 years.

Survivors include his wife, Marion of Beaverton; son, Dan of Garden Grove, Calif.; daughter, Barbara Williams of Albuquerque, N.M.; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
