Paul Simpson was born in New York City on February 18, 1941. He lived in Sparta, NJ for 38 years of his life. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

He attended Officer Candidate School becoming a First Lieutenant in the US ArmHe graduated from Montclair State College in 1962, and taught at Valley Middle School in Oakland for 36 years, retiring in 1999.

He passed away at Hackensack University Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was survived by his wife, Dolores "Corky" Simpson, his son Paul, his daughter Paige, his son Jamie, his grandchildren Claire, Paul, Chloe and Jack, his sisters, Susan Benevy, Kathy Johnston, Margaret Fredericks and Marianne Schmid, and his brother Robert Simpson.
