Hertford, N.C., Oct. 27 - George William Smith, 70, died in Chowan Hospital today at 6 a.m. following an illness of three weeks.
He was a lifelong resident of Perquimans County and the son of George and Mrs. Keziah Moore Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Mansfield Smith; three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Harrell and Miss Myrtle Smith, of Perquimans County, and Mrs. Beanie Copeland, of Norfolk; six sons, Wilford and Vernon Smith, of Perquimans County; Josie, Norman and Elmer Emits, of Newport News, Va., and Charles Smith of Baltimore; a sister, Mrs. Laura Halsey of Perquimans County; 11 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wenesday at 2 p.m. at the Lynch Funeral Home, Hertford. Burial will be in Cedarwood Cemetery.
