Sydney was born to Jeff and Marilyn Wood Bruning in American Fork, Utah on May 24, 1995. She grew up in Lindon, Utah as the youngest of three daughters.

She was a Laurel in the Lindon 11th LDS Ward where she had just received her Young Women Medallion. She was a senior at Pleasant Grove High School, and was also a culinary student at MATC in Lehi, where she was studying just one of many of her favorite things... food!

Other notable favorite things of Sydney's included cooking, baking, dancing, singing, photography, and doing gel nails for anyone who asked. She was born with a kind compassionate heart and contagious bubbly personality. She loved music, and had an incredible singing voice, though she was hesitant to share it (ironic, since she did not have a shy bone in her body).

Sydney was described as the light and life in many people's lives. She had a gift for being loving, comforting, kind, compassionate and fun. Many people described her as the light and life of their lives.

Despite her many gifts, Sydney felt an emotional pain in her life, and she is finally at rest. Though she passed peacefully, she left this world as she entered it - with an incredible force that cannot be adequately described.

Sydney passed away on February 7, 2013, at the age of 17. She was welcomed into heaven by her grandparents, Ralph & Elaine Gardner Wood, and Lee & Marilyn Madsen Bruning, her uncle, Donald Wood, and her best friend Paige Grant.
