Sunday Rites Held For Mrs. Chaffin
Funeral services for Mrs. Dicy Lavona Chaffin, 79, who died Friday morning at her home, 479 West End, after a long illness, were held Sunday afternoon at Willow Avenue Church of Christ.
Robert Fox and Stanley Melnery officiated. Burial was in Fox Cemetery in Jackson County. Whitson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Chaffin was the widow of Columbus Chaffin who died in 1922. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Flora Jackson, Alice, Texas; four sons, Wesley Chaffin, Stillwater, Okla., and Everett, L.A. and Olee Chaffin, all of Cookeville, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dicy Lavonia Chaffin was born in Jackson County Tennessee. Her parents were Uriah Henry Washington Fox and Dicy Lovina Whitefield. Mrs. Chaffin was the wife of Riley Columbus Chaffin. She was also known as Ma Vona. She was the mother of six children, John Wesley, Garrett, Everett, Flora,L.A., and Olee Chaffin. She is at rest in the Fox Cemetery located on Flynn's Creek in Jackson County Tennessee.
