Lema Rae Dorst, age 87, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on February 4, 2013 in Vancouver, Washington.
She was born on September 18, 1925 in Winters, Texas to Lawrence and Lilly Marks. She attended and graduated from high school and then Business School before moving to Tacoma, Washington. She married and started a family in 1944.
Lema worked in accounting for various firms, but primarily for SMS of Sunnyvale, Caslifornia. After retirement, she returned to Washington and has lived in Vancouver the past 27 years.
She is survived by sons, Larry Bond of Vancouver, Washington, Joseph Bond of Phoenix, Arizona, and daughter Cheryl of Everett, Washington; brother, Kenneth Marks of Midland, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse Arthur Dorst and brother, RQ Marks of Winters, Texas.
Lema was a devoted member of Northside Baptist Church in Vancouver, Washington, and a member of the "Gold Star Wives of America." She loved her church, the involvement, the programs, especially foreign missions. Lema loved her Dachshund "Sutter" and doing the NY Times crossword puzzle daily. She was truly loved by her neighbors, friends, church group, and family. A generous, devout and loving lady. She will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Northside Baptist Church 5201 NE Minnehaha St. Vancouver, Washington. Internment with immediate family only was held at Northwood Park Cemetery, Ridgefield, Washington.
