July 26, 2011 Rev. Frederick "Rody" M. Hunt The Tribune-Star BRAZIL — BRAZIL — The Rev. Frederick "Rody" M. Hunt passed away July 24, 2011, at 6:50 a.m., at the Exceptional Living Center, in Brazil. He had been a resident there for a short time. He was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Brazil, the son of Ross M. Hunt and Maryellen Marie Tilley Hunt. He graduated from Brazil High School. As a young man he worked at Arketex before entering the ministry in 1952. He and his mother the Rev. Marie Hunt co-pastored at the First Apostolic Tabernacle, in Brazil, for many years. Following her passing, the Rev. Hunt stayed on at the church, and also developed a prison mission work at Putnamville and Plainfield Correctional Facilities, which continues today. On Oct. 8, 1988, the Rev. Hunt was united in marriage to the Rev. Helen Gilley Neal Hunt. Together they have co-pastored the First Apostolic Tabernacle for the past several years. Rody enjoyed fishing, hunting and target practice. His priority was his faith, his family and his church family. Survivors include his wife, the Rev. Helen Hunt of Brazil; daughter, Carol Horton (the Rev. Doug) of Brazil; daughter-in-law, Mary Grace Hunt of Knightsville; sister, Mary Nell Hudson of St. Louis; grandchildren, Cindy Rodgers (Andy), Melissa Dennany (Tim), Roberta Weil (Brad), Susan Burns, and Rodney Dawes; great-grandchildren, Jessica Weil, Jonathon Weil, Josh Shelley, Hannah Dawes, Sarah Burns, Ross Dawes; stepchildren, Thomas (Julie) Neal, and Gary Neal (Carolyn) of Kentucky; stepgrandchildren, Douglas, Julianna, Carrie, Leah, Christopher, Izzak, Joshua, Brianna, Candace, Carrie, Derek and Tasia; several nieces and nephews; and many brothers and sisters in Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, the Revs. Harold Hunt and Billy Hunt; his first wife, Elva Glasgo Hunt in 1988; and one son, Robert Hunt in 2005. Services will be Sunday, July 31, 2011, at 2 p.m., at the First Apostolic Tabernacle, 1029 W. County Road. 600N, Brazil, with Brother Paul D. Mooney officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m., at French Funeral Home, and again Sunday from noon to 2 p.m., at the church.
