Sarah Mayer moved from Ohio to Michigan with her father a pastor. He ministered to the German Methodist church in Holt, MI. Sarah met and married William John Lott a member of that church. When her father moved to a church in Ann Arbor, Sarah stayed in the Holt area as a farmer's wife. She raised 3 boys and 2 girls. Her father moved back to the area when he retired. Sarah and William John were killed in 1911 when their wagon was hit by the Inter-Urban vehicle. They are buried in Maple Ridge Cemetery which is about a mile west of the family farm.
