Leonard T. Cochran, our precious husband, Daddy and PawPaw went to be with his heavenly Father Tuesday, January 29, 2013 surrounded by his loving family and friends at home.
Born December 15, 1932, Leonard was a hardworking, dedicated, honorable and faithful man. He dearly loved his family and proudly served his church, community and his country. For forty five years, Leonard owned and operated Cochran's Barber Shop and Hair Masters. He founded Cochran's Construction Company where he was a real estate developer and builder. He served as a Whitfield County Commissioner for fourteen years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Cochran and mother, Lillis Brackett Cochran; brothers, Delmar, Cecil, Bobby; sisters, Genevie Ellis, Minnie Ruth Hollis and Myrtle Hollis Franks.
He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife of sixty years, Frances McClure Cochran; daughters and sons-in-law, Debby and Rodney Parsons of Cohutta and Vickie and Michael Cary of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Leonard T. Cochran Jr. and Billie Manis Cochran of Dalton; sister, Bertha Wells; sister & brother-in-law Betty & Dee Jones; brother, Lloyd Cochran; brother & sister-in-law, Hershall and Ella Cochran; grandchildren, Tara and J.C Miller, Magen and Brennan Purcell, Mallory Whaley, Logan Cary and Tiffany Cochran; great grandchildren, Conor and Colin Miller; many nieces and nephews; his special little pet, Shotchie, special caregivers, Justin Shoemaker, Penny Jackson and Freida Evans.
The funeral service will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Hare, Rev. Robert Cary and Rev. Stan Lester officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted and memorial contributions may be made to Ross Woods Adult Day Care and Alzheimer's Association.
