Lettie's mother died in May, 1879 and she was raised by her Aunt Mary (Magner) Easterday and her husband, Jacob at Vernon, Crawford County, Ohio (1880 census). In 1900, she and Mary lived at Plymouth, Marshall County, Indiana. She married Rev. Edward Phillip Scharf in 1915 and they were the parents of sons, Paul E. and David L.; living at Champaign, Ohio in 1920.
