Daphine, age 80, died peacefully at her son's home. She was born to the late Joseph and Helen Wheeler of Franklinton. She graduated from Franklinton High School and married Lee Roy Mangum, Jr. in 1946. Daphine, along with her husband Lee Roy, owned and operated Mangum's Grocery Store in Franklinton for 30 years. In addition to working in the grocery store, Daphine was a homemaker and devoted mother. Daphine is survived by her two sons, Barry of Wilmington, North Carolina and Craig of Cary, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Lee Roy; parents Helen and Joseph Wheeler; sisters Louise Pearce of Wake Forest and Dorothy Ross of Franklinton. Daphine was a very loving, kind and gentle person that touched each person she met. She will be missed and never replaced in the hearts of her two sons and others that knew her.
