Leo Joseph Dithrich, the fourth son of John Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Schuttinger) Dithrich, was born at the Dithrich family home on Center Avenue in Pittsburgh. He was brought up in the Catholic faith, attending Holy Trinity Church, and as an adult became a pricer for Shippley Massingham Drug Company. He married Emma Anna Christ on 7 August 1912. Leo and Emma shared a long, happy life together during which they weathered the Depression, raised six children in their home at 50 Grape Street in Knoxville, Allegheny County, Pensylvania, and lived to enjoy their 23 grandchildren. After Emma died in 1970, Leo lived with his daughter Dolores in Baldwin, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania until his death in 1972.
