Raymond (Ray) Douglas Richards, 75, a lifetime resident of the Norcross and Herman area, died July 11, 1984, of heart disease, after an illness of four years.

He was born August 29, 1908, at Herman, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Richards. At the age of 5, he and his family moved to Norcross.

He and Mildred Bacon were married in 1938. He farmed all of his adult life in Gorton Township, near Norcross.

He was a member of the Norcross United Methodist Church and the Herman Odd Fellows and Rebekah lodges and a long time member of the Gorton Town Board and served on several other community and cooperative boards.

He was honored this spring by the Odd Fellows and other members of the Herman – Norcross community by inducted into the Herman Odd Fellow Hall of fame.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred; by one son, Dale; by four daughters, Fern, Anita, Shirley and Carol; by fourteen grandchildren; by one brother Clifford; and by four sisters, Maggie, Edith, Myrtle and Pearl. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Services were held July 14 at the Norcross United Methodist Church.
