Alton G. Haddock/ CHICOD - Mr. Alton G. Haddock, 80, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007. The funeral service will be conducted today at 3:30 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel by the Rev. David Scott Kays and the Rev. Stewart La Neave. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park. Mr. Haddock, son of the late Zeno and Eula Hardee Haddock, was born on Oct. 15, 1927, in Pitt County. A longtime resident of the Chicod community, he attended Chicod School. He farmed and was a tobacconist with Star Planters Warehouse. He was a member of Timothy Christian Church. The "love of his life" was hunting and chatting with his hunting buddies. He loved people and will always be remembered for his wit and lots of laughter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Deanie Taylor and brothers, Walter L. Haddock and Brooks Haddock. He is survived by his wife, Lois J. Haddock; sister, Hazel Tripp of Portsmouth, Va.; sister-in-law, Madeline Haddock; and many nieces and nephews and many special friends.
