James C. Hollis, age 75, of Baird, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013, in Hendrick Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Tye Cemetery, Services are under the direction of Parker Funeral Home of Baird. Visitation with family will take place from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
James was born March 20, 1937, in Decatur, Texas, to William Richard Cornelius Hollis, and Mary Thelma Hollis. He had been a truck driver for Mrs. Baird's Bread for 30 years. He moved to Baird 4 years ago, and had lived in the Abilene area since 1970. James attended the Brushy Creek Cowboy Church in Putnam, Texas.
Survivors include his daughter, Angela Kaye Cantrell and husband Don, of Clyde, Texas; his son, Charles William Hollis and wife Paula of Danville, Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Hollis of Abilene, Texas; a son-in-law, Gary Robling of Idaho; 1 brother, Walter C. Hollis and wife Sandy, of Chico, Texas; 1 sister, Daisy Marsh of Dangerfield, Texas; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, a number of step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews; along with 2 special friends, Robin and Sharon.
James was preceded in death by 1 son, James E. Hollis, and 1 daughter, Lynna Robling.
