Edith Marie Wolfmeier, 88, of Fulton, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022, at the Kingdom Care Senior Living with her family by her side.

She was born on April 26, 1934, in her family home in Bluffton, MO to Alexander and Elizabeth (Kleindienst) Stiers.

On October 16, 1960, she married Gene ODonald Wolfmeier at the First Christian Church. He preceded in her in death on May 31, 2022.

In Bluffton, she attended the one-room schoolhouse for grades K-8, taught by Ms. Geraldine Peters. After the death of her father, she moved to Washington, MO, rented a room at a boarding house and started work at the Defense Plant that manufactured ammunitions for the Armed Services. Later, she moved to Callaway County, and worked for Roscoe and Marguerite Roland, as a waitress at Lay's Café in Kingdom City. When her children entered school, she started a home daycare where she earned the nicknames of "Meier", "Weiss" and "Nana". She continued this business for 28 years, loving each child that entered her care.

Edith was well known for her love of cooking and baking. She hosted many family dinners, Stiers family reunions and assisted with Bible School and Church dinners. You couldn't visit her home unless she offered you something to eat. We will all miss her homemade rolls!

She loved her immediate and extended family but the love for her four grandchildren was beyond measure. She loved attending Grandparents Day at their schools, dance recitals, high School graduations and witnessing her oldest grand-daughter graduate from college.

Edith was a member of the First Christian Church and the Couples Class for over 60 years. Her faith became stronger when she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 70 and Dementia in 2012. She would often quote – "God doesn't give you more than you can handle."

Edith's memory will be remembered by her family, including her son, Michael G. Wolfmeier (Dianne) of Fulton; her daughter, Cecilia M. Lee (John) of Columbia: grand-daughter, Jordan T. Lee of Columbia, grand-daughter, Kalyn A. Wolfmeier and grandson, Bryce M. Wolfmeier, both of Fulton; one brother, Billy Stiers, of Fulton; plus, many extended family members.

In addition to her husband and parents, Edith was preceded in death by a grandson, Spc. Zane Thompson Lee, on July 8, 2012; six half-siblings, Lottie Geringer, Lucille Zeugin, Aubrey Stiers, Cecil Stiers, Margaret Kleindienst and Jeanette Livingston.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the First Christian Church in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson and Rev. Will Ryan officiating. Family and friends will be received from 10:00 am until time of the service. Interment will follow at the Callaway Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Staff of Kingdom Care Living Center for the loving care of their "Mom" and to Compass Hospice Care.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First Christian Church, Susan G. Komen Foundation, or the Alzheimer's Association.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd., Fulton. Condolences may be left for the family at [email protected].
