Barbara J. Chapman, 66, died Thursday, May 18, 2006, at Minneola District Hospital.
She was born Feb. 12, 1940, to Kenneth and Clare (Clay) Havner at Grand Rapids, Minn. She married Royce H. Chapman on Aug. 16, 1958, at Larned. He survives.

She was a longtime Bucklin resident. She graduated from Spearville High School in 1957 and attended Dodge City Community College.

She started her nursing career as a nurse's aide in 1966. She later became a registered nurse and had served at the Minneola District Hospital for the past 22 years, as well as worked at Bucklin Clinic.

She was an avid bowler, enjoyed square dancing and participated in the Bucklin Community Theatre. She was also a big fan of John Wayne; she cried the whole day when she found out he died.
