HEADLINE:Henry H. Wood is Held for Murder in Slaying of "Lon" Anderson

"Enraged because he wasn't allowed to continue to participate in a $10.00 poker game on $2.00 he had received from the sale of some whiskey to the participants, Henry H. Wood, former bailiff in this county, Monday night shot and killed Alonzo Anderson at the entrance of a room of a local hotel".

USED SHOT GUN.
"Wood fired the contents of one barrel of a double barrel shot gun into the chest of Anderson, practically shooting his heart out. Anderson died almost immediately while Wood sleeked off, hid his weapon in a closet of the hotel and then evaded officers for nearly an hour as they hunted every nook and corner of the building".

BOUGHT WHISKEY.
"Those who were in the poker game, Dudley, James, Clifford, Hayes, and Anderson... wanted some whiskey and telephoned Wood... who was eventually dealt a hand". He won several hands but other players objected to his $2 up and invited him to leave.

RETURNS WITH GUN
[Wood] knocked at the door and remarked "I'm going to kill the first one that shows himself". As he made this remark he fired, the entire load entering the breast of Anderson as he stood in the entrance of the door.
Both Wood and Anderson are married and have families. Wood lives on Oconee street and Anderson lives on DuBose avenue".

FUNERAL WEDNESDAY
Mr. Anderson was 43 years of age and has lived here for twenty years. He is survived by his wife, four daughters, Misses Lena May, Euwenia, Sara Bell, and Carline Anderson, and three sons, James, Frank, and Delmas Anderson".
