Chesapeake - Edna Odell Barnhill, 100, went home to be with the Lord January 11, 2013. A native of Pitt County, North Carolina she was born to the late Chester and Lollie Whitfield Davenport. She was the loving wife of the late John T. Barnhill and was also predeceased by her son, Gordon Barnhill, Daughter, Nell Barnhill Rice and granddaughter, Cynthia Goodwin. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for forty-nine years.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Julian Barnhill and his wife, Claudine; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Barnhill; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and six great great- grandchildren.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 12 noon at Fairview Baptist Church, Chesapeake with Pastor Lee Godfrey officiating. She will be laid to rest at Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, January 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 1204 Tatemstown Road, Chesapeake, VA 23325
