"The News Tribune," Tacoma, WA, Obituaries, Betty Tidwell, Sat., 17 Dec 2011
Betty L. Tidwell Age 87, passed away on December 14th, 2011. She leaves her brother Ron Thaut, daughters Jane Fortin and Lynn Mosteller, 2 grandchildren, Melodie Fox and Fred Fortin, 2 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. December 22, 2011 at Firlane Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 924 East 176th St, Spanaway, WA.

Born to Molly and Henry Thaut. She enjoyed the dairy farm girl life in Graham WA growing up. One older brother Russel Thaut and one younger Ronald Thaut.
She married Walter "Bud" Tidwell, January 16th, 1944 in Tacoma.
They moved to McKinley ave to start their family.
1947 came daughter Jane Marie. A second child was not to be.
She kept her home and her landscape immaculate. With some of the most beautiful roses and peonies one could ever imagine.
She did not drive until she was in her 50's. She was employed by JC Penney later in life for a short time. She and "Bud" spend winters in Yuma Arizona until his passing.
My grandmother had debilitating, disfiguring arthritis. She was in a lot of pain the last 8 years or so. I often teased her calling her "bionic" because she had had both knees replaced as well as a shoulder.
Her heart was began to fail in the last year of her life.
The heart is what finally took her at the ripe age of 87.
She lived a great life and was loved by her Daughter, Grandchildren: Melodie and Fred and her Great Grandchildren: Rachel and Nathan. She also had 2 GG Grandchildren. Westin and Jordyn.
She will be missed.

My Grandmother taught me a love of gardening. This was a wonderful gift to pass along. I will do the same for my grandchildren. Thanks Gram!
