Rita E. Tanner, 64, of Clintonville, passed away January 7, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Oil City.

Born February 27, 1948 in Mars, PA, she was the daughter of Howard M. Werner and Dorothy J. Zwayer Werner. Rita graduated from Freedom High School.

Rita married the love of her life Edward Tanner on October 14, 1967, he survives.

Rita worked as a bank teller for over 25 years in Farmers National Bank in Emlenton and also worked at Mercer County State Bank in Clintonville. Rita was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Clintonville and had been a Sunday School teacher in church in years prior. Rita loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with the entire family.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her two children: her son, Kenneth A. Tanner and his wife Roxanne of Kutztown, PA, and her daughter, Jennifer L. Sorger and her husband Richard of Cambridge Springs; four grandchildren, Caleb E. and Samantha I. Tanner and Nathan A. and Grace E. Sorger; four sisters, Sylvia Kendell and her husband Bill of Shippingport, PA; Susan Buttermore and her husband Dave of Prospect; Nancy Urban and her husband Frank of Zelienople, and Wendy Waslow and her husband Rich of New Sewickley Twp., and three brothers, Earl Werner and his wife Ruth of Michigan; Rodney Werner and his wife Arlen of Ardmore, and Martin Werner and his wife Nancy of Washington. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Family will receive friends at the LARRY E. MCKINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville, PA, on Thursday, January 10, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will take place Friday at the Union Presbyterian Church, Emlenton Street, Clintonville, at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation prior to the funeral service at the church. The Rev. Anthony Catullo, of the Union Presbyterian Church, will officiate.

Interment will take place at the Clintonville Methodist Cemetery.
