Retired Lt. Col. Robert Lee Ariail Jr., 70, of No. 12 Silver Lake Park, West Columbia, died Tuesday.
Born in Willington, he was a son of the late Robert Lee and Margaret Morris Ariail. He was a World War II and Vietnam War Army veteran and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Spencer Ariail; daughters, Mrs. Homer (Julianne) Petty of Japan and Ms. Edith Ariail of New York; a son, Robert Ariail III of Columbia; and a stepson, Phil Spencer of Maryland.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel of West Columbia, with burial in Celestial Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
