MEMORIALS OF The Earl OF STIRLING "Archibald b 4 February 1708 who left Eredy Scotland in 1736 with his brother Robert to go to New Providence. (Archibald's first child, William, was there b. 1738; a son Samuel b 1769 in Augusta County, Virginia) His brother, William also went to PA. A brother Peter may also have gone-it says only he March. twice; after his death, his 2nd wife Jane Scott and some children emigrated to KY.
The West Virginia Heritage Enc Cuppl, Compendium, p. 1-2, and Virkus' The Abridged Compendium of American Genealogy, 1600s-1800s, Vol. VII, p. 826, give data that The William "The Corpulent" Alexander descends from The "House of MacALEXANDER of Tarbet, Kintyre, Scotland." This lends support to The Family being connected to John of Tarbert, Kintyre, as presented by other Family researchers.
