Former Gridley Man Fatally Injured

Funeral services were were held in the Evangelical United Brethren church in Sacramento yesterday for Orval Bryan McDonald, 54, former resident of Gridley. Interment was in the East Lawn cemetery.
McDonald, who attended the local schools and made Gridley his home up to six years ago when he moved to Sacramento was fatally injured Friday, June 20th, in an automobile accident on the Stockton Highway out of Sacramento. He was a passenger in a car driven by his wife, Ila McDonald, who collided head-on with a car near the Sheldon Road. Mrs. McDonald also was injured but was able to leave the hospital Wednesday.
The deceased was a native of Iowa and a veteran of World War I. He was the father of Viva Mae Pfahl, Vearl and Lionel McDonald of Sacramento; step-father of Dorothy McDonald (also his daughter-in-law), Roberta Beebe of Lodi, Lt. Wm. Clark of the U.S. Army; brother of Mrs. Lillian Cox of Sacramento.
McDonald came to Gridley with his parents who a boy of 11. He was twice married, his first wife who died a number of years ago, being the former Etta Smith. McDonald's three children were born to this union. He was a member of Lt. Lansdale post of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Gridley Post of American Legion.
